  1. I think this is a good listing out of the behaviour continuum. I'd love to see it done up as an XKCD-style chart.

What's interesting is the lack of a feedback monitoring step on how the girl in the garish and revealing costume is reacting to any or all of the attention (although if she's crossing the convention floor and/or leaving the building, one would hope the necessity to follow her to continue engagement would trigger something). Generally speaking, if you treat people, even ones in garish and revealing costumes, with respect, then they will let you go farther along the continuum before trying to shut things down.

I recently had a guy at a pub (we have friends in common) try to trick me into kissing him by "checking his breath" for him. Jerking and turning my head away and saying I didn't care what his breath was like wasn't good enough; I had to yell at him and tell him to f*** off before he ceased and desisted. Fortunately he's a known "bull in a china shop", as his friend who escorted him away put it; I've seen people gang up on the person being bullied for "causing a scene".

    1. There's a lot to reply to in this, Katherine. Nothing trumps my disgust at that "trick" - I just don't understand the headspace of such people. I'm sorry you experienced that to begin with.
